The Canadian Professional Standard for Counselling and Psychotherapy (CPSCP): Entry to Practice Competency Assessment
Commonly referred to as “The Standard”, the tool is a high stakes computer-based, bilingual, simulation-style, competency-based assessment for the use of statutory regulatory colleges as part of their registration regulation and the assessment of foreign-trained or alternatively-trained candidates.
No single assessment can evaluate everything. The Standard is designed as one piece in a multi-pronged approach to determining readiness for entry-to-practice. It is important for candidates to know all requirements for entry-to-practice in the area in which they plan to work.
Below is a chart to help candidates understand the requirements to practice when moving from one Canadian province to another.
